For the electronic prescription to become a reality, industry, physicians, pharmacists, health insurers and insured persons must all pull together. Whether they are willing to do so, however, is questionable. Many EU countries have already made much more progress with electronic prescriptions.

Der Vorschlag der EU-Kommission zum Europäischen Gesundheitsdatenraum liegt auf dem Tisch. Die EU macht damit laut Gesundheitskommissarin Kyriakides einen „wahrhaft historischen Schritt“ auf dem Weg zur digitalen Gesundheitsversorgung. Es wird jedoch eine Mammut-Aufgabe. Einer der Knackpunkte dürfte der Datenschutz sein.
