Germany is massively underrepresented in the EU institutions. The EU's largest country accounts for 18.6 percent of the EU population. In the Commission, the Parliament and the Council, however, Germany consistently accounts for less than ten percent of civil servants, temporary and contract staff.

Transparency of NGOs: own-initiative report weakened in committee

The own-initiative report by Markus Pieper (CDU) for greater control of NGOs was watered down in the Committee on Budgetary Control. The request to the Commission to submit a legislative proposal for more transparency was removed. Pieper is now hoping for changes in the plenary vote.
