EUDR: Environmental groups warn against zero-risk category

In the debate surrounding the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation, environmental organizations are warning of potential loopholes for illegally traded timber. They oppose demands from Chancellor Friedrich Merz and 18 agriculture ministers, who are pushing for the creation of a zero-risk category under the anti-deforestation regulation.
