Yuan auf dem Tiefstand

Der chinesische Yuan fällt im Verhältnis zum US-Dollar auf seinen tiefsten Stand seit der Finanzkrise 2008. Zwar ist er damit in guter Gesellschaft. Der Euro und das britische Pfund haben in ähnlicher Größenordnung nachgegeben. Doch sollte die Währung der zweitgrößten Volkswirtschaft der Welt inzwischen nicht eigentlich besser als die EU in der Lage sein, sich gegen den Dollar zu stemmen? Derzeit ist davon kaum etwas zu sehen. Von einer Weltwährung ist der chinesische Yuan noch weit entfernt.

Yuan at all-time low

The Chinese yuan has fallen to its lowest level compared to the US dollar since the financial crisis in 2008. It is in good company because the euro and the British pound have declined by a similar level. But should the currency of the world's second-largest economy by now not be in a better position than the EU to stand up to the dollar? At present, there is little sign of that. The Chinese yuan is still far from being a global currency.
