Wolfgang Kaleck

Since he founded ECCHR with other lawyers, Wolfgang Kaleck has been Secretary General of the human rights organization. A specialist in criminal law, he has initiated sensational investigations since the '90s, representing the US whistleblower Edward Snowden, for example. ECCHR brings non-transparent arms export decisions to public attention, especially where geopolitical considerations take precedence over human rights. Kaleck is a committed advocate of the principle of universal jurisdiction, according to which serious human rights violations should be prosecutable worldwide regardless of where the crime was committed or the nationality of the perpetrator.
