Shell’s CEO Wael Sawan has focused on increasing returns and a higher dividend for its shareholders since taking office in January 2023. In March 2025, the company announced plans to sell four to five percent more LNG annually by 2030. “We want to become the world’s leading integrated gas and LNG company,” explained Sawan. “The provision of LNG will be our biggest contribution to the energy transition in the next decade,” Sawan continued. Oil and gas production is set to grow by one percent annually. Sawan promised investors “some exciting new sources of oil”.
