Radosław Sikorski

Prime Minister Donald Tusk promoted his Foreign Minister to Deputy Prime Minister in July. Radek Sikorski is therefore considered the most promising candidate to succeed the 68-year-old Tusk should he resign in view of the blockade by the national-conservative President Karol Nawrocki and tensions in the coalition. Sikorski is six years younger and has an excellent international network. He sat in the European Parliament for four years and taught at Harvard, among other places. The trained journalist fiercely defends liberal democracy against national populism, as does his wife, the historian Anne Applebaum.
