Özden Terli

Özden Terli is one of Germany’s best-known meteorologists: As editor and presenter of the ZDF weather desk, he reaches a wide audience. For many years, he has interpreted the weather report not just as a source of information about sunshine and rain, but as scientific communication, and explains the connections and consequences of the climate crisis in his program. For this, he was awarded the 2021 Environmental Media Prize by Deutsche Umwelthilfe, among others. Time and again, he is also confronted with waves of criticism from the far right that wants to silence him. However, Terli believes that many people, and in particular parts of industry, are already further ahead than many areas of politics, which, instead of dealing with possible climate solutions, are preoccupied with bogus debates and distracting the public.
