Nicole Schilling is not only the first woman to hold the rank of three-star general in the Bundeswehr, but since August she has also been the first woman to hold the office of Deputy Inspector General of the Bundeswehr. Most recently, the doctor and air force medical officer headed the Armed Forces Readiness and Support Unit (EBU) in the Ministry of Defense, where she had one main task: to procure more personnel and material for the Bundeswehr in order to meet NATO requirements. This mission will also accompany the 51-year-old in her new role.
