Moritz Schularick's research interests include financial markets and asset prices, questions of monetary macroeconomics and the causes of financial crises and economic inequality. Under his leadership as President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a study was published examining the economic consequences of a hard decoupling of Germany and Europe from China. Prior to his appointment in Kiel, Schularick was Professor of Macroeconomics at the University of Bonn and Director of the MacroFinance Lab there. He is also Professor of Economics at Sciences Po University (Paris).
