Markus Kamieth

The Chair of the Board of Executive Directors of BASF is convincing in his public appearances: Markus Kamieth received an award in June for giving the best business speeches of the year in 2025. He also delivered a convincing performance at the BDI climate summit in October. Kamieth, who holds a PhD in chemistry, railed against CBAM and emissions trading, which were currently making life difficult for the world’s largest chemical company. The chemical giant BASF is currently having a hard time anyway due to the weak global economy and geopolitical risks. Kamieth therefore wants to focus the company more strongly on its core business. He worked for BASF for many years as a manager in the USA and Hong Kong. He became a member of the Board of Executive Directors in 2017 and has been CEO of BASF since April 2024.
