The technocrats of the EU bubble are not usually very religious. But Mario Draghi’s status is approaching the supernatural. The savior of the eurozone knows how Europe can be freed from its internal market hurdles and put back on the road to growth. He is rarely visible in person and yet he is omnipresent. Though often quoted, not everyone understands his report. And as with most holy texts, politicians and diplomats usually only cite those passages that already correspond to their positions. But Draghi alone cannot perform miracles. That will only happen when the governments of member states take stock and ask themselves: “What would Draghi do?”
