Jürgen Kerner, born in 1969, is a trained information electronics technician and is now the second chair of IG Metall. He is regarded as an authoritative strategist with a cool head. Once a conscientious objector, he now openly advocates positions on armaments policy in order to secure jobs in the security and defense industry. Among other things, he campaigns for further investment in the production and research of military aircraft. He sits on the supervisory boards of Siemens, Siemens Energy AG, MAN Truck & Bus and Thyssenkrupp.
