The former Italian prime minister tirelessly promotes his reform proposals, with which he wants to kickstart Europe’s economy. However, he is up against the same resistance as his colleague Mario Draghi: a combination of a lack of political will and excessive demands on those in power, who seem to be busy with the war in Ukraine, rearmament and populism. Nevertheless, EU heads of state and government want to discuss proposals in the two reports again at their meeting in mid-February.
