Benedikt Franke is deputy chair and CEO of the Munich Security Conference (MSC). As such, he will hold the position until Jens Stoltenberg takes over the leadership of the conference. He has been pulling the strings of the prestigious conference in the background for more than 10 years and has recently been increasingly coming to the fore himself. Before joining the MSC, he was, among other things, Director of the Global Governance Institute, Commissioner for Strategy of the CSU national leadership and personal advisor to the former Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) and Nobel Prize winner Kofi Annan. Franke holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
