Armin Nassehi has been Vice President of Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München since October of this year. During his term of office, he is on leave as Professor of General Sociology and Social Theory. The 65-year-old sociologist is a sought-after voice when it comes to explaining the social dynamics and developments of our time. In this role, he has also made important contributions to security policy issues such as the debate surrounding compulsory military service or the role of US President Donald Trump. His Iranian father came to Germany to study medicine, while Nassehi himself was born in Tübingen and studied various humanities subjects from 1979 to 1985. He then completed his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Münster.
