Canada has sharply criticized the executions of four individuals who held both Chinese and Canadian citizenship. The Chinese Foreign Ministry, however, pointed to the rule of law in the country.

Economic downturn: Youth unemployment rises again.

Almost one-sixth of 16 to 24-year-olds in China's cities are unemployed. Overall, the nationwide unemployment rate in cities has reached its highest level in two years. Most recently, the National Bureau of Statistics had excluded students from the unemployment data.
