Taiwan: Why the Czech Republic opens a cultural center

The new center in Taipei is intended to bring Taiwanese and Czech cultures closer together. Beijing sees any rapprochement with Taiwan as a provocation. The Czech Republic is one of the EU states with the closest ties to Taiwan.

State visit: Putin's plans in Beijing and Harbin

Vladimir Putin's state visit to China is planned for Thursday and Friday this week. In addition to meetings with Xi, Putin is expected to meet with Premier Li Qiang and visit the city of Harbin.

Xi arrives in Hungary on May 8

China's head of state Xi Jinping will visit Hungary from 8 to 10 May. The announcement was made by the Chief of Staff of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán on Thursday. Xi is then expected to travel on to France and Serbia.

China suspends issuing visas for Lithuania

The trade dispute had actually been resolved, but it is apparently still simmering: Lithuanians will no longer receive visas for China as of Wednesday. At the same time, the EU has suspended its dispute at the WTO with Beijing over the embargo against Lithuania.

Ukraine seeks talks between Zelenskiy and Xi
