Serbia is said to have granted citizenship to Russians close to Putin, allowing them visa-free entry into the EU. According to the exiled Russian media outlet Vazhnye Istorii, 204 Russians have been granted Serbian passports since 2022 without having to surrender their Russian passports. The medium names these individuals and their functions.

Ukraine: Rubio in Paris for talks.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US special envoy Steve Witkoff are meeting with European counterparts in Paris this week to discuss the war in Ukraine and a nuclear agreement with Iran. Rubio is meeting with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot.

Migration: Which countries the Commission wants to classify as safe.

The European Commission has presented an initial list of safe countries of origin and wants to bring forward the implementation of parts of the asylum and migration pact. Member states are to be able to apply the new accelerated procedure at the external borders before the pact comes into force next June.
