New genetic engineering: Why the Belgian initiative has not brought a breakthrough

The Belgian EU Council Presidency wanted to cut the Gordian knot in the negotiations on EU genetic engineering law with a new initiative on the controversial patent issue. However, the hoped-for breakthrough failed to materialize.
