New Secretary General of the EU Parliament: five candidates hope to succeed Welle

The Secretary General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle, will retire in January. Five applications have been received for the post. But the original process to backfill the vacancy is no longer viable. Instead, a package solution could be used, even if it is not a universally popular one.
