German vote: Maternity leave rights for EU parliamentarians spark coalition dispute in Berlin

The European Parliament wants to allow members to transfer their voting rights while on maternity leave in the period before and after the birth of their child. This has now sparked a conflict between the CDU/CSU and SPD – Germany may have to abstain.
