Mercosur: Equalization mechanism causes controversy

In order to obtain more environmental policy commitments from the Mercosur states, the EU Commission agreed to a compensation mechanism in the dispute settlement procedure. Its scope of application remains controversial, particularly with regard to the deforestation regulation and CBAM.
