20 years of ETS: Europe's main climate instrument has halved emissions

In the energy supply sector in Germany, climate-damaging emissions fell particularly sharply by 9.5 percent to 171 million tons of CO2e (IMAGO/Norbert Wienold)

In addition to the emissions report for the past year, the German Environment Agency also celebrated the 20th anniversary of the ETS on Wednesday. The emissions reductions since its introduction paint a clear picture.
