Germany’s gasoline discount: Legal opinion questions constitutionality

A new legal opinion concludes that Germany’s reduction in the energy tax on gasoline and diesel is constitutionally vulnerable and cannot be justified under state aid law. The fuel tax rebate, which expires at the end of June, should therefore not be extended.
