Extreme weather: The number of heat-related deaths in the Global South is ten times higher than in the North

While researchers estimate that 391,000 people will die from the effects of extreme heat in poor countries by 2050, the figure for rich countries – based on roughly the same population size – is 39,000 deaths. In the Global North, climate change-related mortality is declining.
