The crusade of an unbowed man

The death of the 91-year-old military doctor Jiang Yanyong last Saturday came at an inopportune time for Beijing's leadership. He fought for the investigation into the military intervention against protesters in 1989 and was therefore regarded as the "doctor of conscience". This earned him harassment and years of house arrest.
