The UN Human Rights Council has voted against imposing unilateral sanctions on countries without a majority in the UN. China, unsurprisingly, voted in favor of the resolution tabled by Azerbaijan. This shows: The rift between the West and emerging countries is growing.

More tourism than before the pandemic

The May holidays have shown: At least in their own country, the Chinese are already traveling more than before the pandemic. This also raises hopes in the international tourism industry. However, it will have to wait a bit longer for the big business.

Elon Musk has apparently buried his plans for a high-speed tube train between Los Angeles and San Francisco. China, on the other hand, is holding on to the technology. The first line could go into service in 2035. The technology is "of strategic importance" for Beijing.

The end of the Chinese civil rights dream

The sentences against Xu Zhiyong and Ding Jiaxi are the nail in the coffin of Chinese civil society. The two lawyers firmly believed they served the state by exercising their constitutional rights. Activists see these prison sentences as a warning signal to the democratic world.
