Truth in images: Historic postcards open Chinese citizens’ eyes

Historic photographs and old picture postcards have become a new collecting passion for some Chinese. These documents bear unfiltered witness to what life in the People’s Republic – and earlier, in old China – once looked like. In that sense, they have become a kind of indirect way of coming to terms with the past.
