After US midterms: even tougher stance toward Beijing

After the US midterm elections, the Republicans can hope for a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. The distribution in the Senate is still open. Quite apart from that, however, it is already clear that Washington's attitude toward China will continue to harden. US foreign policy in the Indo-Pacific region and in the triangular relationship between the EU, China, and the United States remains uncertain. On Monday, US President Joe Biden will meet President Xi Jinping for the first time.
