The EU Parliament is officially still in its summer recess. For the start in September, Bernd Lange, Chair of the Committee on International Trade, has a packed to-do list: The EU supply chain law is taking shape, and the EU Commission's proposal for a marketing ban on products made with forced labor is expected. The situation surrounding Taiwan's status quo is not calming down. Starting next month, Taipei is holding formal trade talks with the US. The negotiations are primarily of political significance: True free trade is currently unthinkable for the US. However, a cooperation agreement would strengthen Taiwan's position as an independent player.
