The new German government has resolved to organize its European policy more stringently. The most important posts have now been filled, but the coordination processes are not yet running smoothly.

One and a half weeks after the election it is certain: the traffic light coalition will get its chance. Now the SPD, Greens and FDP will continue to sound out a possible coalition. These talks are also expected to be comparatively brief – but will begin with a six-hour meeting at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds starting at 11 a.m. today, Thursday.

The FDP and the Greens, the two coalition partners-to-be, plan to meet today, Wednesday. According to the plan of the election winners in the Willy Brandt House, the traffic light coalition will meet later this week for the first time. Meanwhile, there is rising pressure on Armin Laschet in the CDU/CSU parliamentary group.
