Environmental Action Germany (DUH) offered to conduct a lobbying campaign promoting fossil gas as a fuel in cars in exchange for a payment of €2.1 million. The campaign was supposed to last for three years and be funded by an association supported by gas companies.

The own-initiative report by Markus Pieper (CDU) for greater control of NGOs was watered down in the Committee on Budgetary Control. The request to the Commission to submit a legislative proposal for more transparency was removed. Pieper is now hoping for changes in the plenary vote.
