The Infra-Red Imaging System Tail (IRIS-T) is one of the most advanced air defense missiles in the world and is used by several countries, including Germany. This technology was later adapted for ground-based applications, leading to the development of variants such as the IRIS-T SLM (Surface-Launched Medium-Range). A fully equipped system consisting of multiple launchers, radars and command units is estimated to be around EUR 150 million.
