Severe flooding in southern China

At least six people have been injured and others buried in landslides in the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. The authorities fear a flood of the century in the densely populated Pearl River Delta.

Foreigners in China: a fleeting minority?

The shine of China's free-market reforms is peeling off due to constant arbitrary interference by nation and party. And even with Beijing's policy of opening up the country, which it has promised for the past 40 years, no state can be formed upon. This has once again been proven by the low number of foreigners residing in China. The new census counted 845,697 foreigners in the whole country. This equals only 0.06 percent of the population. With its proportion of foreigners, the supposedly globalized People's Republic brings up the rear among all other major nations.

BASF runs a factory in southern China entirely on green power

In China, as well as in Germany, local and international companies are striving to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. BASF wants to be a pioneer here and is designing a new factory to run entirely on green electricity. This is not easy. But the company is cooperating with the Guangdong provincial government to become independent of the large share of coal in China's electricity mix.
