Emissions trading: Germany cancels 500,000 certificates to secure coal phase-out.

The German government is canceling certificates from European emissions trading for the first time. The Federal Environment Agency and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety announced that this will safeguard the climate protection effect of the statutory coal phase-out.
