Employers demand less state involvement in the economy

The employers' association Business Europe is calling for the Commission to exercise restraint when proposing new legislation for the economy in the next mandate. It should also get serious about cutting red tape.

Clean Air Directive: Germany abstains

The German government intends to abstain from the vote in the circle of EU ambassadors (Coreper I) on the Clean Air Directive. Nevertheless, it is expected that the Spanish Council Presidency's proposal for a compromise will receive a qualified majority today.

Report: EU companies finance a quarter of the 'carbon bombs'

According to a new report by CAN Europe, Friends of the Earth and other NGOs, a quarter of the world's largest fossil fuel extraction projects are operated or financed by EU companies and banks. The alliance calls for mandatory climate transition plans under the EU Due Diligence Act.
