France will no longer subsidize Chinese EVs
France will no longer subsidize EVs with weak carbon footprints. This is aimed in particular at Chinese cars. To this end, France will reform the "bonus écologique," the French environmental bonus. To qualify for the ecological bonus, EVs must score a minimum number of environmental points starting in 2024. These are calculated from the greenhouse gas emissions in the supply chain, i.e., the carbon footprint of the materials used and the emissions during the production and transfer of a car. A car is only eligible for the environmental bonus of up to 7,000 euros if it achieves a "score environmental "of 60 out of a possible 100 points.
