IEA: Why global coal consumption remains high

While the EU, the USA, Japan and Korea are reducing their dependence on coal, demand in China and India is increasing – albeit slower than in 2023. Overall, the IEA expects demand to remain constant until 2025.

FÖS: Where additional billions for climate action could come from

In view of the narrower scope for public climate investments, the Forum Ökologisch-Soziale Marktwirtschaft (FÖS) proposes linking environmental taxes to inflation. This could generate €9 billion a year. According to the FÖS, reducing fossil fuel subsidies would free up as much as €24 billion per year.
