DWD: Germany's spring is drier than ever.  

It is unusually dry in Germany. The German Weather Service (DWD) reports that it has rained less in recent months than it last did in 1931. After the holidays, the drought is likely to ease, at least regionally.

EEG: Study sees several options for implementing EU requirements.

Germany has various options when it comes to implementing the EU Internal Electricity Market Regulation. However, a study by the Stiftung Umweltenergierecht (Environmental Energy Law Foundation) shows that it is unlikely to be possible to avoid a repayment obligation for new wind and solar power plants in the event of high electricity prices.

US President Donald Trump has ushered in a coal revival for his country – and wrongly cited Germany as a positive example. On Tuesday, Trump signed an executive order to heavily subsidize coal as an energy source. Ministries and authorities are instructed to repeal all measures diverting the country from coal production.
