Bucking the trend: why security planners are widely debating the risks of the climate crisis

Hitze im August und kein Regen - die Ausgangsbedingungen für den großen Waldbrand am Brocken waren ideal. Auch wenn zur Brandursache noch nichts bekannt ist, Totholz und ein Funke genügte um den Königsberg in Brand zu stecken. Seit Freitag laufen die Löscharbeiten. Mittlerweile sind Erfolge zu verzeichnen. Der Brand ist eingedämmt und nicht mehr außer Kontrolle. Dazu war extrem viel Manpower notwendig. Auch das Löschen aus der Luft zeigt sich sehr erfolgreich. Am Sonntag waren weiterhin zahlreiche Löschflugzeuge und Löschhubschrauber im Einsatz - unterstützt von der Bundeswehr. Bei den Temperaturen gehen die Kameraden teils an ihrer Belastungsgrenze.
