Five-Year Plan: China removes electric vehicles from list of strategic industries

Zhao Leji, member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), leads a group meeting on the implementation of the guidelines of the Fourth Plenum.

In the Central Committee’s recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan, electric vehicles are no longer listed as a strategic industry. Instead, quantum technology, embodied AI and 6G mobile communications are named as new growth drivers.
