COP30: Why the conference ignored countries’ duty to protect the climate

The ICJ and other courts have compelled countries to protect the climate. However, the issue of how they interpret the law was practically absent at COP30. Oil countries put up a blockade and the EU held back, while developing countries were powerless. Now, the latter are banking on a UNGA resolution.
