Food warfare: MSC report recognizes new dimension

In order to protect the civilian population, the Geneva Conventions prohibit attacks on targets such as agricultural land and drinking water facilities. Nevertheless, the instrumentalization of food remains a common form of warfare. The current report of the Munich Security Conference analyzes three strategies.
