"Peatlands are the big climate construction site," according to Franziska Tanneberger. Due to their drainage, large amounts of CO2 are released. When peatlands are destroyed, crucial CO2 sinks are lost. The co-director of the Greifswald Moor Centrum is advocating for the protection of peatlands.
