Weak methane plan as the start of COP diplomacy

Shortly before the summit meeting between Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in San Francisco, China has presented a long-awaited strategy for reducing methane emissions. The plan lacks ambition, but it could open doors in negotiations.

Philippines withdraw from BRI projects

President Marcos departs from his predecessor's policies and cooperates with Japan for new railway lines instead of China. He allows a higher military presence from the USA and skipped the Belt and Road Forum. This amounts to a departure from the Belt and Road Initiative.
