Yuanization of Russia carries costs for China

The Western sanctions policy against Russia has bound the Russian economy closer to China. Russian energy companies are issuing bonds in Chinese yuan. But this development is not particularly beneficial for the yuan's path to becoming an international currency. The more yuan circulates in Russia, the harder it will be for Beijing to control its own currency.
