Maritime shipping: Why climate protection and legal certainty are at risk

The IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee will soon hold another meeting to discuss the decarbonization of maritime shipping. Some countries are challenging a compromise on this issue that was painstakingly negotiated in 2025. If it is reopened for negotiation, it would be a significant step backward.
