Just how dangerous is climate change for China?

China is one of the biggest drivers of climate change. At the same time, the People's Republic is more severely affected by the impact of the climate crisis than other countries. It could face costs in the trillions over the next few decades if the global community does not intensify climate protection. This is shown in a new study by Tsinghua University.

The footage of flooded subways in Zhengzhou in the summer of 2021 is one of the most shocking images of the past year. The floods were triggered by torrential rain. Over just three days, the Chinese province of Henan experienced as much rainfall as the average for the rest of the year. More than 300 people lost their lives.
