EU Commission publishes CAI annexes

The EU Commission has published the long-awaited details of the investment agreement with China. With regard to market access, the People's Republic has made concessions – but in general, they offer only a small step forward for European companies. The EU Commission waited a good seven weeks before publishing the details of the investment agreement with China (CAI). The annexes now published with the details of market access show that the European Union is making progress in manifesting the oft-mentioned "level playing field", for example, in the manufacturing sector and private healthcare – but that major negotiating successes beyond this have not been achieved. In some areas, the agreement falls short of expectations.
